Men’s Fellowship

A great time was had by all at the men’s fellowship. Peter taught what the Bible says about a man’s role in the family. In South Sudan, the men are distant and not involved with the wife and children. This is because they often have multiple wives and children. We saw many new faces that day, and the best part was a man named Sala accepted Jesus as his Savior!

“You may never get another chance.”

Every Saturday evening we have a time of visitation to see the members of our community. Although Chelsea’s normal visitation partner was not available, she stopped by Peter’s house to see if his wife, Dianna, was willing. She was cooking, but she said they could go out quickly. They went as fast as possible to Clementina’s house (the one they planned to visit) only to discover she was not home. However, her neighbor Hawadia had just arrived. Hawadia works at the market everyday until 5pm to provide for her family. As they sat there, all Chelsea could think about was Dianna’s need to get home. All of a sudden, Dianna looked at Chelsea and said, “ You may never get another chance.” That was the encouragement Chelsea needed to open her Bible and share the gospel with Hawadia! We are happy to tell you Hawadia got saved that day! The original plan was just to invite her to come to our church sometime, but even though Dianna was on a time crunch, she knew nothing was more important in that moment than to tell Hawadia about Jesus. This shows not only her understanding of the need for the gospel, but also the urgency to share it!

A Muslim came to Christ

On a Friday during youth night, a man named George came to talk with me about how to get an American visa. I apologized that we didn’t have time to meet with him then due to our youth night. So we scheduled to meet the next morning. The next day, he came and I answered his questions regarding his desire to get an American visa, but then I told him about his need for Jesus. He came from the Congo, and when he arrived to Juba his father said he needed to be Muslim. After he heard the gospel he said, “I knew what my father was practicing couldn’t be right, what you are telling me makes sense.” Praise the Lord George accepted Jesus that day!

English Sunday School Salvation

It’s always a joy to see Sunday school students raising their hand for salvation at the end of a Bible lesson. Sekwat is one of our youth who has gone through the gospel workshop I teach, and Chelsea asked him to take the lead in sharing the gospel that Sunday. Christine raised her hand that day knowing her need to be saved. Sekwat did a great job sharing the gospel and Christine accepted Jesus as her Savior. It is a blessing to witness the fruit of our ministry team’s effort that gave him the confidence to share the gospel that day.
